Welcome to my
kitchen, today we will make Palak Paneer.
Palak Paneer is one
of the most popular paneer dishes. consisting of paneer in a thick paste made
from puréed spinach and seasoned with ginger, garlic, garam masala, and other
spices.
It can be eaten with
naan, paratha or jeera rice, ghee rice or even plain rice. it is healthy and
tasty food.
Ingredients
for Palak Paneer
500 gms spinach, pureed
15-16 Paneer cubes
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 Bay leaf
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
1 cup onion paste, grated
1/2 cup tomato, pureed
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp red pepper, powdered
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cream
A pinch of asafetida (hing)- it is optional
Making
method of Palk Paneer
Step 1:- Boil spinach in a pressure cooker. if the stems
are stringy, then discard the stems. boil spinach with a little bit of salt.
Step 2:- when
spinach become boil Immediately add the palak or spinach leaves in a pan or
bowl containing ice-cold water. this method helps in preserving the green color
of the spinach. just add 8 to 10 ice cubes to 3 cups water to get cold water.
allow the spinach leaves to be in the cold water for a minute.
Step 3:- Remove the spinach from cold water and squeeze it well.
now the spinach in a blender or grinder jar
with chopped ginger and green chilies.
make a smooth palak puree. no need to add water
while making the puree. keep the spinach puree aside.
Step 4:- Heat
oil in a pan and put cumin seed and bay leaf, asafoetida/hing.
Step 5:- When
it starts to crackle. then add ginger, garlic and onion paste. Cook until it
gets pinkish-brown in color.
Step 6:- Now
add tomato puree and stir fry over medium heat.stir and saute the tomatoes till
they soften.
Step 7:- When
you see oil releasing from the sides of the mixture. then add salt, turmeric,
garam masala, coriander powder along with red pepper
Stir till well mixed.
Step 8:- then
add the palak puree and mix well. and cooked
2 to 3 minutes.
Step 9:- add
about ⅓
to ½ cup water or as
required. stir again. till the become gravy thickens cooked 6-7minute.
Step 10:- Now
add paneer cubes to the mixture and turn around a few times to completely mix
it with the palak gravy.
Step 11:- Pour
some cream over, mixes well.
Now your palak paneer
is ready to serve. you can eat the hot palak paneer with some rotis, tandoori
roti, chapatis, phulkas, parathas or naan.
If you like rice then
you can eat with jeera rice, veg pulao, ghee rice and even a simple steamed
rice...
