Sabudana Khichdi

 


Welcome to my kitchen, Today we will make Sabudana khichdi. Sabudana khichdi is usually made during fasting days like Navaratri or Mahashivratri or Ekadashi. It is an easy snack and a good recipe to be made on fasting days. Since Navratri is going to start soon. so you can make it and enjoy to eat your Navratri fast. In Navratri, we keep fasting for nine days. And every day we feel like eating something different. so try to make it in your fasting days. so let's start to make

Ingredients for Sabudana khichdi

  • 1 cup tapioca pearls (sabudana)
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger - optional
  • 1 green chili - chopped
  • ½ cup roasted peanuts
  • 8 to 10 curry leaves - it is optional if you do not use in fast then skip.
  • ¼ cup grated fresh coconut (optional)
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon sugar or as required
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon lemon juice or as required (optional)
  • 3 tablespoon peanut oil or ghee
  • rock salt (sendha namak)



Making Sabudana Khichdi

Step 1:- Wash sabudana very well in water. Then soak sabudana for 4 to 5 hours or overnight.

Step 2:- Next day, drain their water and keep aside in a bowl.

Step 3:- After that, boil the potatoes and peel and chop them.

Step 4:- Fry the dry the peanuts in a pan till they turn brown and when cooled make a coarse powder paste in a grinder.

Step 5:- Now Mix the peanuts powdered, salt, and sugar with the drained sabudana.

Step 6:- Now heat the ghee.  and add the cumin first.

Step 7:- When the cumin has cracked, Now add the curry leaves and green chilies. and  Fry for a few seconds and then add the grated ginger. you can use only those things which are used on your fast day. otherwise, skip it

Step 8:- Fry for a few seconds until the raw smell of ginger goes out. Now add chopped boiled potatoes and fry for a minute.

Step 9:- Now add sabudana and stir it for 5-6 minutes and fry

Step 10:- When the sabudana starts becoming translucent it means they are cooked. switch off the gas.  and add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.

Step 11:- Before serving for garnish You can even add some grated fresh coconut on top.

Now your hot sabudana khichdi is ready, enjoy to eat it your fast day
